We Need Your Help!

We’re a big congregation. We need a big bunch of volunteers. The Wider Horizons Capital Campaign officially starts next month. We’ll invite pledges from the whole congregation and the two best ways to do this are one on one get-togethers or in small groups. Join the team already working on this.
Host and facilitate Cottage Meetings
What’s a Cottage Meeting? Six, eight, ten or twelve of us get together at your home and talk about JUC – past, present, and future – and our thoughts (our excitement!) about moving to a larger campus. The next 90-minute training for these Cottage hosts on Saturday, February 22 at 12:30 p.m. Sign up here to attend the training and pick a cottage meeting time.

Be a Visiting Steward
Visit with individual members or families. The next trainings for that volunteer job will be Friday, February 21 at 6:30p.m. or Saturday, February 22 at 9 a.m. Sign up here to pick your training time.

Helping with the capital campaign is a wonderful way to help our church be more, do more, and make a bigger impact on the whole wide world!

It was a wonderful connect/re-connect with folks I haven’t had a chance to talk with in a long time, and one who I’d never met. I loved talking with folks who hold JUC’s mission and our faith so close.
- Paula Menten

The hardest part was scheduling the meetings! After that, it was easy to meet people, listen to their stories, and share some of mine. The money part was actually easier than I expected after the stories and I don't know the details of what every person committed. That wasn't the point. The point is what we can achieve together when we come together with shared mission and love.
- Andrea Aikin

We looked at the stewardship opportunity as a way to get our feet wet and do more for JUC. It turned out to be an intimate and easy task.
- Tom Reiley

Sure, the primary purpose of being a visiting steward is raising money for the capital campaign, but it’s not the primary focus. The focus is love. What do we love about JUC? What have we set our hearts on together? I have had conversations with fellow members that are mine to cherish beyond this project. For these, I am grateful.
